Staying Fit

Many people work out at SMU on a daily basis. Everytime I go to the gym I see at least five people that I know. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? This is what I think. Staying Fit

SMU = Cocky?

When I tell people that I go to SMU, I often hear, "Oh that's the rich school." SMU has the stereotype of being a school full of rich people that come from wealthy families. Also I have heard many people say that SMU is full of snobby people, who frequently flaunt their money. I admit that their are many people who are ballin', but not everyone is cocky.

When I walk around campus, money is everywhere in sight at SMU. Almost every parking spot has a Mercedes, BMW or Lexus. Girls walk around with designer purses, wearing expensive clothes. It is apparent that SMU is a rich campus. However, not every student's family owns a huge cooperate business. There are just as many people that are not wealthy and have an average family income. You do not have to be rich to fit in at SMU. I do not feel like I have to have the latest coach bag or knew channel sunglasses. It isn't a competition. No one really cares if you have a lot of money or not.

I fit into the not so rich category of SMU. Some of my friends have a lot of money and some do not. It really is not that big of an issue. If they are wealthy, they do not flaunt it and are definitely not cocky. I would never know just by hanging out with them that they were rich. A lot of people are very modest and humble about their wealth. I only notice when they make a nice gesture like paying the bill at dinner. I have met and made friends with some of the nicest and most genuine people, who are rich. It is not fair label SMU as cocky, because most people are not.

Juicy Campus...not that big of a deal

Juicy Campus is the new buzz going around SMU. I do not know why everyone is so concerned about it. Here is what I have to say. Juicy Campus

Umphrey Lee Asian Night at SMU

Usually everyday when my stomach growls after my long day of classes, the last thing that I want to eat is food from
Umphrey Lee. The selection is so limited, and I eat practically the same thing every time I go. After awhile I sand which and a salad gets old, and I am too scared to try some of the food because it does not look safe. Especially now that I am trying to eat healthy, there are not many options. There are plenty of good desserts. I cannot keep my eyes of the cookies, brownies, cakes, and ice cream. However, there are hardly any healthy vegetables or meats that make my mouth water.

Because of this I was shocked that Asian Night last night was so good! There was a variety of sushi that was very tasty. The Beef and Broccoli dish was fabulous and the mixed grilled vegetables were a healthy yet delicious side. This is not just my opinion, everyone that I talked loved it. It was the talk of the campus last night. Therefore, I think that Umphrey Lee needs to have more theme night dinners because they much better than normal food. I also feel as if we as students deserve it because we pay so much money for our required freshman meal plan.
